The Little Yellow Pill
Posted by: Dr. Ken Bennett
Next time you're making a run to Walgreens to restock the Advil, Aleve, or whatever it is in your medicine cabinet, you should take a second to think about what that pill is actually doing. Now, I'm not here to say that sometimes medicine isn't vital for pain relief or to save a life. It most certainly is. However, more times than not, it does not address the cause of the problem and leaves other problems behind.
At The Balancing Center, we know that the body heals from above-down-inside-out. I think we can all agree that your brain and your nervous system run everything that happens in your body. If the spine is out of alignment, that life giving information is disturbed or choked off. Your brain starts to send and receive signals trying to tell you that something is wrong. How does it do this, you ask? It gives you pain and symptoms.
We work with people everyday to help relieve pain by removing the nervous system disturbance and let the body heal itself, as only the body can, from above-down-inside-out (just typing that feels weird.) Imagine how your body likes to have its commands and chemicals altered while it's in the middle of doing something. Probably the way you would feel if someone disturbed you in the middle of a project...annoyed. What winds up happening then? You might feel better in the moment but at some point guess what shows up? Side effects!
So next time you have an ache or pain or some other symptom you might just be an adjustment or two away from allowing your body to heal from above-down-inside-out. Not only will you feel better but you get to avoid those wonderful side effects on drugs.
"The Doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in care of the human frame, in diet, and in the prevention of disease."
